Coachford under 13s win a 9 goal thriller in the 2nd round of the cup.
It looked as if it was going to be easy for Killanardrish/Coachford in this 2nd round cup tie against Douglas Hall in Coachford as striker, Liam Twohig scored a cracker of a goal inside the first minute but Douglas Hall had other ideas when they scored from a superb free kick to level the game with only ten minutes on the clock. The city side then took the lead from a corner before Josh Martin equalised with an excellent goal after receiving a brilliant ball from Cathal Crowley. Douglas Hall continued to fight for the lead and they took it on 25 minutes with a well taken goal, however Josh Martin, who was playing some great football equalised again to make it three all at the break. The second half was as intense as the first with both sides very anxious to advance to round three and only three minutes into the half Douglas Hall pounced on a floating ball over the Coachford boys heads to take back the initiative and the lead. Calls for offside were ignored by the ref and the boys from Killanardrish/Coachford had to settled down again to try and equalise and they did, with an excellent strike from Luke Casey. 4-4 with only five minutes remaining. Josh Martin was proving to be a huge thorn in the city team’s side and when he embarked on a darting run down the wing and cut in to the box he was upended and a penalty was awarded. The ever cool Adam Murphy stepped up to slot the ball to the back of the net and Coachford emerged the winners by 5-4. Well done boys. Great game and great entertainment. Under 12s play in the cup tomorrow night (Tuesday) in Coachford at 7pm.
