Church Gate Collection 

The Aghabullogue Coachford Rylane Community Council will hold their annual Church Gate Collection this weekend, Saturday April 1st and Sunday April 2nd outside the three churches in the parish. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
 
Footpath repairs
Members of the Community Council have met with the Cork County Council’s  Senior Area Engineer in relation to concerns about the appalling condition of the footpath from the GAA pitch to the road to Leemount. At the onsite meeting it was outline to the Engineer that the footpath was now in such a poor state of repair that it is now dangerous and becomes submerged  when the road gets flooded and thus forces pedestrians to go on the road and put themselves in danger. Following the meeting a firm commitment  was given by the council to address the issue as soon as possible and for the project to be put on the footpath renewal scheme.
 
Reducing Crime
At a recent meeting of the West Cork Garda Division,members of the Community Council were briefed on crime figures for the area. Superintendent  Fitzgerald informed the Community groups that Crime rates were very low for the area but people had to remain vigilant in order for the rates to remain low. He reiterated that valuables should not be left in cars when people visited graveyards, mass, sporting events or amenity walks. He also asked for home owners to ensure that property was secured and at this time of year Garden equipment was stored securely. He praised al the Community Alert groups around the division and called for everyone to report anything that they think may seem unusual or our=t of the ordinary..
Drama AGM
The Annual General Meeting of the Coachford Players Drama Group will take place next Tuesday, April 4th in O’Callaghan’s Bar. New and old members are invited to attend as the group look forward to planning out the year ahead and reviewing the past 12 months.The group will aslo use the meeting to plan out in more detail their upcoming  season of One Act plays which take place on April 29, 30th and May 1st
Qustions for Parents?
Who are the current All Ireland Minor Hurling Champions? Who won last years Coachford Festival Queen competition and  what is the unit of currency in Poland? are just three of the many questions in next week’s Coachford National School Parents Association Table Quiz On Friday April 7th in O’Callaghan’s Bar Coachford. Tables of four are only €20. It’s a great cause, a great night out and a great way for a gang of four to get together.
Foroige 
Coachford Foróige took 3rd place in the West Cork District Basketball Tournament in Rosscarbery last weekend. The club had ten members at the event and all of them played superbly in their first tournament. Before heading home they decided to avail of the glorious West Cork sunshine  so headed off to the Warren and enjoyed the beautiful beach and freezing water.
