Community Council Chairperson welcomes Rooves Bridge Repairs

Chairperson of the ACR Community Council has welcomed the decision by the ESB and rooves-begCork County Council to  begin work on a major repair of Rooves Bridge Coachford. Maighread Ní Mhurchú Buachalla said “This has been a long time coming and it is something we in the Community Council have pushed for over the last few years. We are now hopeful that the Cork County Council and the ESB can make the bridge more presentable looking and the road surface smoother and better to cycle and drive on. Rooves Bridge is the main artery coming into and out of the village and has been an eyesore for some time now. While there is no doubt that the repairs will cause disruption to many we are thankful that the Bridge and the R619 will be opened  during the day to allow access to the schools and businesses. I would like to remind people that Coachford will remain open and vibrant during the repairs and our Public Houses have a lot on offer over the Christmas period to entice people in to the village and I can assure you that the visit to Coachford over whatever alternative route you have to take will be well worth it. I would however ask that motorists are careful as they use  smaller and some narrower alternative routes during the hours that the road is closed.”

Cork County Council has advised that due to major Bridge Repair works being carried out by the ESB, Rooves Bridge will close from Monday 12th December to Friday 23rd December 2016 and from Tuesday 3rd January to Friday 13th January 2017 from 8pm to 8am each day
