Looking ahead to what promises to be one of the busiest weekends of the year for the area. First up today is the Vintage day in Dripsey and the parade in Macroom. A lot of locals are involved in both and let’s hope the weather holds up. Dripsey GAA are holding a Poc Fada this afternoon from Dripsey Castle to Dripsey Cross. The local pubs will be busy with Cheltenham festival punters, GAA and soccer fans throughout the day. The riverbanks will be filled with Anglers from all over the place trying to land a few and no doubt they’ll end up in the pubs later on to discuss the great fishing on the river Lee.The Hope foundation table quiz takes place in O’Riordan’s Bar on Friday night and the big camogie game takes place in Cahir on Saturday when the college team will go all out to win the All Ireland. The terrific rock band, ‘Little Creatures’ play in O’Riordan’s on Saturday night. Dripsey Tidy Towns are holding a walk on Sunday to raise a few bob. The Greenway is open all weekend and it promises to be really busy. (Don’t forget to pick up the poo that comes out of your pooch!).
The U15 schoolboys have a very difficult game ahead of them on Saturday morning as they try and overcome a superb Carrigaline side at the Glebe at 10.30am. Coachford Under 17s are playing Evergreen away on Sunday at 1pm while the premier team travel to Carrigtwohill for a morning game. Meanwhile Rylane will entertain the Glen in their game as they continue their superb league form again this season. Aghabullogue Under 14 footballers will play their first league game on Sunday against Carrigtwohill at 12noon. According to the GAA County Board website the Intermediate footballers are down to play Glenville at midnight on Sunday but before you start to pack your flash lamp and head for North East Cork I’d check locally if I were you!!! Have a good weekend.
