Coachford College expands
Coachford College will be receiving a multi million euro building project to expand and update the facilities at the award winning college. This major investment will bring state of the art facilities to the college and will allow for the expansion of the school to cater for over 800 pupils.Principal Mr.Pat O’Connor  announced  to parents and staff that work on the new extension will begin in 2018 and will accommodate the ever increasing enrolment at the school and is a huge commitment by the department of education into the area. The good news was relayed at the Coachford College annual awards ceremony which  took place last Friday where the schools achievements in academic, extra curricular and sporting activities were celebrated. These included the many top results from last years leaving and junior cert exams and the successes on the field of the  sporting teams and athletics. Cork camogie and Ladies Football player, Briege Corkery was the gust of honour and urged the pupils to think positive about themselves and to surround themselves with friends who will support and encourage them as they go through school, college and life.
 
 
Christmas kicks off in Coachford
The festive season begins in Coachford this weekend as the first of many events takes place to kick start Christmas. First up is the Coachford Christmas Lights Table Quiz.in O’Callaghan’s Bar on Friday night. The quiz will have a Christmas theme with many of the questions focussed on all things Christmassy. Prizes will be given out for the best Christmas Jumper and for those looking really festive. ” we are all looking forward to having a bit of fun on Friday night. We want this Christmas  to be the best one ever for the village and we are putting a huge effort in to make sure that everyone enjoys the festivities. The quiz is to raise money to repair some of the lights and to purchase new ones. The quiz itself has a real Christmas theme to a lot of the questions and this should be great fun.” said Grainne Donovan of Coachford Tidy Towns. A table of four only costs €20. The group are planning on turning on the lights in the village on Sunday December 6th. The businesses in the village are preparing for a bumper year of trading. The shops are stocked with some gorgeous gifts and goodies to suit everyone’s taste. Gifts galore can be found in all the retail outlets  and Christmas trees are for sale in a number of stores from this weekend. Advent begins on Sunday and the Church will be looking beautiful in the run in to Christmas week.The bars will have music and will be hosting many parties for the next month and as usual Coachford will be the place to be seen over the next few weeks.
Boxing Bazaar
Rylane Boxing club will host a Christmas Bazaar on Sunday, November 29th in Aghabullogue Hall at 2pm. Come and meet Santa and Mrs Claus,. Enjoy the Balloon Man, Wheel of Fortune, Face Painter and cake sale.A great day of fun for all the family.
 
2016 Calendar
Aghinagh Comhaltas has just published their 2016 Calendar. Each month features a beautiful painting by members of the Coachford Atelier Art Group. The calendar costs only €10 and is aid of Marymount Hospice. Copies are available in the local shops and would make a lovely Christmas present.

Coachford Premier team play Castlelack at home on Saturday at 2pm in the second round of the AOH cup
Ballincollig Scout Bazaar
The 30th Annual Scout Bazaar will take place in the Community Hall Ballincollig on Sunday December 6th from 2pm. This Bazaar is a real tradition at this stage and always provides people with an opportunity to pick up some real bargains, have a chance of winning great hampers in the spin the wheel and bid for some real quality items in the evening Auction. All monies raised go to the Ballincollig Scout group who provide scouting activities for children and young adults from Coachford, Dripsey, Farran and Ovens.
