Community delighted with donations
The Broomhill Vintage club held their annual Cheque presentation night in O’Riordan’s Bar last Saturday night. A large crowd attended to see the proceeds of the Coachford Autumn Festival being presented to The Coachford Tidy Towns, the three national schools in the parish, Marymount Hospice and Suicide Aware. “All the community benefitted from the festival and the monies donated will make a real difference to people’s lives” said Peter Dineen, Secretary of the Coachford Autumn Festival.
Citizen’s Information Mobile Unit.
The West Cork Citizens Information Service will have its Mobile information Unit at Coachford Post Office on this Friday, October 9th from 10am to 4pm. The unit has a room for confidential interviews and also a public desk for general queries. Staff from the West Cork Citizens information Centre will be available to provide information and advice on a range of topics including employment rights, redundancy, unemployment & other social welfare benefits, family matters, consumer issues, migration issues and disability issues. Anyone interested in the service can drop in to the mobile unit on Friday. No appointment is necessary. The service is free, confidential and independent.
Jack and Jill fundraiser
Over €6,000 was raised at last Sunday’s fundraiser for the Jack and Jill Foundation. A huge number of people turned up to grab some great bargains and enjoy coffee and cake with neighbours and friends. The fundraiser was brilliantly organised by Tanya and Joe Foley.
Aghabullogue parish and WWI
Local historian, Anthony Greene will reprise his presentation on “The Parish Experience of World War One in Coachford National School at 8pm on Wednesday October 14. The event is free. Further discussion after Anthony has answered all questions will take place in O’Callaghan’s Bar. This is a presentation not to be missed.
Table quiz for Colleges teams
The senior football and hurling teams of Coachford College are holding a table quiz on Friday October 9 in O’Callaghan’s Bar Coachford at 8pm. Tables of four are only €20. Come along and support the teams and test your knowledge.
Scouting for Rylane
A new scout group is being formed in Rylane. The scout group will cater for girls and boys aged 7-11 years. An information meeting will be held in Rylane School Hall on Friday October 9 at 7.30pm. All those interested are very welcome to attend .
Soccer Fixtures
The Killanardrish/Coachford Under 11s play on Sunday at home at 12.45 against Park United. Also on Sunday the Under 17s play Evergreen at home at 2pm. The Coachford Under 15 premier team travel to Carrigaline to play the home side in the league at 11.45am on Saturday.
