Oz comes to Coachford
The Yellow Brick Road is ready to welcome everyone to Coachford this weekend for the Coachford Players production of the Wizard of Oz. This will be the group’s biggest and most ambitious musical that this most talented bunch of experienced actors and musicians have ever brought to the stage.
The colourful and gorgeous musical is a must see and is one suitable for all the family. The show will be performed for only four nights; Saturday December 9th, Sunday 10th, Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th. Curtain opens each night at 8pm.The musical tells the story of Dorothy who is transported by a tornado to the land of Oz and has to travel along the Yellow Brick Road to meet the Wizard to try and get back home. On her way Dorothy meets up with the Tin Man, the Scarecrow, the Lion and a really nasty witch. The show is packed with wonderful characters such as the adorable Munchkins and the good witch Glinda.
Karolyne Dineen, director said “We are all really looking forward to performing this fantastic musical. It is one we always wanted to put on and we are delighted that rehearsals have gone so well. It is a great musical with some gorgeous scenes and fantastic songs. I am thrilled the way the main characters have worked so hard to get this magical story to stage. The little Munchkins are adorable and all the main characters are simply superb.”
The musical is well known for its main song, ‘Somewhere over the Rainbow’ but the show has an abundance of other gorgeous musical numbers such as ‘Ding Dong the Witch is dead’, Follow the Yellow Brick Road’, ‘ Merry old Land of Oz’ ‘If I were King of the Forest’ The Lollipop Guild and ‘We’re off to see the Wizard’ and many more.

Remember there are great family tickets available with children accompanied by an adult only €5. Students and OAPs only €10 and adults €15. The show is over 2 hrs of fun, music and song.
