Coachford Autumn Festival

Proceeds from the Coachford Autumn Festival will be handed out to four groups next Saturday night, September 29th in O’ Riordan’s Bar Coachford at 10.00pm. The four groups to benefit from the festival are Cork Charity SuicideAware, and local groups; Care of the Aged, Coachford St. Vincent de Paul and Coachford Tidy Towns. Festival Chairman Tadgh Murphy said “ We are delighted to be in a position to be able to donate to these groups again this year. We are extremely fortunate that the festival was so well supported by our sponsors and Patrons. Indeed it is because of the generosity of all our sponsors that we are in a position to make these donations as due to the inclement weather, attendance figures were down on previous years. We are grateful for the support from everyone in the locality of this year’s festival and are already looking forward to the 2013 festival”

Community Council

Resurfacing of the approach roads from Dripsey and Macroom to Coachford Village continues this week with minor traffic disruption. Doug lucey , Community Council PRO said “The resurfacing is very welcome and it is something that we have been seeking for since earlier this year. Unfortunately the drainage works in the village and the almost continuous water leaks in the Moneragh area of the village still need to be addressed as a matter of urgency and we are hoping that the County Council will act on these matters as soon as possible. Funding from the Department of the Environment for the replacement of old asbestos piping from the end of Knockanowen to the graveyard needs to be secured and Michael Creed TD has written to the council on the community’s behalf seeking a speedy resolution to this issue.”

Best wishes to Shannon Murphy, Jessica, Emma and James Flannigan who have left for Florida to compete in the World Kickboxing championships. We hope that they have a very successful competition and look forward to welcoming them home.
